Two Winston-Salem Cats In Need of A Fur-Ever Home

These 2 beautiful cats are in need of a loving home.  They are obviously attached and need to be together.  The Siamese is named Sambo & the DSH white is named PT.  Believe they are 5 years old.  Kernersville vet can verify age & that vaccines, etc. are current.  Family may be able to help with cost if not current.  They are indoor kitties who have had access to a porch, but have probably never touched grass.  They have not been around other cats or young children.  They have only seen 1 small dog that used to come with visitors.  The family may be able to help with transport.

My uncle died in June 2010 and his wife, my aunt, died December 2010.  They had 2 cats that I'm trying to find homes for.  Currently, they are still at my aunt and uncle's house, and my mom and dad are going over twice a day to feed, water, and clean out their litter boxes.  However, we can't keep them, and the house will ultimately be sold.  We already have a dog, and my mom says that's all she can manage on a permanent basis. 
 
One cat is a Balinese male and the other looks like a white Persian and is a female.  The female originally came from a shelter.  Both have been spayed and/or neutered, but they still have their claws.  All of their shots are current, and I can provide vet records if needed. 
 
Any help and/or information that you can provide will greatly be appreciated.  Thank you very much. 

Perhaps Medication Would Help

Today's blog post is more for my benefit than yours. I don't know if we're in some weird phase of the moon or if perhaps latent ADD has kicked in, but scattered is the only word to describe my mental processes these days. I have an abundance of "stuff" begging to be checked off the list but I'm paddling with one oar and going in circles. I thought maybe taking a little breather to just sit back and list what needs to happen in my life might calm me down and provide a little focus.

Animal Protection Society/Western Rockingham Chamber of Commerce coffee - The APSRC is hosting a chamber coffee this Thursday from 8-9 AM at the Hunter House Bed & Breakfast (my neighbors!). I'm the rep for our group. WED: pick up bagels at Panera. Buy regular coffee to make. Check with B&B about using their coffeepot. Buy orange juice, fruit. Review recent stats of animals helped for mini-speech as coffee host. 

Book Promotion: Finish going through Twitter pals to send postcards to. Arrange blog tour. Compile list of people willing to write reviews and send to publicist. E-mail nice woman who has been waiting over a week for my response about appearing on her pod cast. 

Decide what to write for my next book. (No, I can't even think about it now. My brain will explode.) 

November Speech - I'm a guest speaker in November at the international Cat Writer's Association in NY. Haven't started on my talk and quite a bit of research is involved. Yeah. Also, contact hotel and make sure room has Wi-Fi capabilities

Buy plane ticket. Flying to Chicago in October to visit my sister and then will drive back to NC with my Mom, her cat, and her overweight Maltese who is afraid of the car. Call sister & mom to coordinate arrival/departure dates.

Answer e-mails - Friends and clients are waiting for responses. Book project for client is on hold. Must. Do. Now.

Dinner: Needs to sit in fridge at least an hour to mix flavors and will take about 30 minutes to make. 

Okay, all of the above needs to happen before Thursday at 2:30 PM. After that, I'm gone to Blue Ridge to test my legs against some hills. Thanks for letting me vent. I feel calmer seeing it all written out. Now it's just a matter of focusing and going down the list one by one, until everything is done.

Happy News! Special Needs Kitty Found A Home

In case you're searching around your desk this Wednesday afternoon for some good news, let me toss some in your lap. Thumper, the special needs kitty from yesterday's post, found a home! My friend Rudy submitted pictures of Thumper to a local new station and a woman from Elkin who fosters cats saw his picture and called the Cat Clinic. It was kind of a meant-to-be moment as the woman stated she rarely stays up to watch the 11 o'clock news, but on this night she did and when Thumper's little face and story went up, she knew she could care for him. She has an outdoor cat enclosure with access to a finished basement for her cats. Thumper goes to his new home on Friday.

Yea WXII! Yea nice woman who is adopting Thumper! Yea Cat Clinic of Greensboro for believing in this little cat! Yea Wednesdays!

Good stuff happening out there, people. Good stuff. 

Special Needs Kitty Needs A Home

Meet Thumper. I know. How cute is he?

Thumper needs your help. He is a special needs kitty, which makes finding him a forever home a bit of a challenge. Thumper is a 4-month old male, neutered, who has either trauma or congenital issues where he has to walk on the back of his back legs (versus upright on his back feet). He gets around great but the damage has left him incontinent. Right now he's walking around The Cat Clinic of Greensboro swaddled in diapers (which is about the cutest thing I've seen in a long time). 

The people who found Thumper have paid for his care thus far, but they authorized euthanasia because they do not want to see him suffer.  He's not suffering right now. He is a normal kitten in every other way. Loves to play, bat at things, and revs his big 'ol purring motor up the moment you touch him.

Right now he's in diapers, although he's too small for the the xxs to fit just right so they tend to slide off while he's playing. But he's very adaptable and hasn't tried to rip them off. The diapers work but aren't completely leak-proof. He does better on tile floors than carpet, which tends to leave sores on the back of his hindlegs. Thumper may make a good outdoor cat, so long as he's kept close to a house.

Thumper is VERY sweet. My friend Rudy works at the Cat Clinic and she reports that Thumper comes up and taps her on the leg when he wants food or hugs.
